Four years ago, I sensed the Lord was calling me to serve Him not only in raising my children in the Lord, but also by somehow touching and changing others’ lives. I wanted to be sure that I was not following my own desires.

So, I chose a day without any interruptions; I turned off all phones; I sat on the couch with my Bible and I asked the Lord, “What do you want me to do with my life?” And He gave me a vision of a beautiful subdivision with small, individual homes for single mothers filled with green space with trails, picnic areas, butterfly gardens, and vegetable gardens.

This green space provided a safe place for children to play and an atmosphere that encouraged a sense of community, belonging and sharing amongst the mothers and the children. Within the subdivision, was a wellness center that provided emotional, physical and spiritual wellness to the mothers.

God-Sized Vision

I drew the vision on paper and as organizational ideas came to mind, I realized how huge this project really was. It was definitely God-sized. Why would God give this vision to me? I have a nursing background. Not a business or real estate background.

So, I tossed the vision in my file cabinet where it stayed until recently. I really have felt the Lord leading me to bring this project to life. Everyone I share the vision with gets excited about it and states what a huge need there is for affordable housing for single mothers.

Ordinary People Doing His Work

If you read the Bible, you will notice in any bible story that every human being that achieved great things started out as a person that did not necessarily stand out in the crowd. God chooses the ordinary people to do His great work. That way, no one may boast. For it is through God that we are capable of doing great things.

A.B. Simpson said, “God does not want great men and women, but he wants men and women who will dare to prove the greatness of their God.”

Thus, it is through God working through individuals like you and me that will make this project become a beautiful reality. I hope you will join me in this great adventure.
